Right Place Right Tree

Planting trees and increasing woodland cover are positive things we can do now, however, there are lots of things to think about when planning a tree planting or woodland creation scheme. Whether you’re a farmer, landowner, community group, business, agent or an individual planning a tree planting or woodland creation scheme, we hope our Right Place Right Tree pages will advise and guide you.

Hedgerow trees

Standard hedgerow trees have been an important part of our landscape for many generations, but have been declining in recent years. There are steps that can be taken to reverse this decline. See this advice note on Hedgerow trees and management produced by FWAG South West and the Devon Hedge Group for some ideas on increasing and managing hedgerow stock.

Recent publications from the South Devon Woodfuel Hub also include this Hedges for Heat factsheet. The aim of this factsheet is to stimulate more interest in biomass from hedges and small woodlands.
