Your opportunity to make a difference for Devon’s wildlife and communities; the Wild About Devon Grants allow your sponsorship money to stretch across the county, reaching local people who are ready to take action for nature.
The Grant Scheme offers small but meaningful grants (up to £500) that enable communities to carry out impactful, well-considered wildlife projects. These projects are judged using clear criteria by a panel of nature experts. We are aiming for a 2026 Grant fund of £10,000 and welcome any contribution towards this goal.
What does the Grant support?
- Habitat creation and restoration: wildflower meadows, hedgerows, ponds and more
- Species focus projects including bird and bat boxes, hedgehog homes and bug hotels
- Wildlife surveys and citizen science
- Nature education and outreach, to all ages
- Volunteer support: tools, materials and training
Since 2023, £20,000 of grant funding
has supported 83 community-led
projects across Devon.
In the first two years of the Grants,
over 213,200 square metres of habitat
were created, restored or enhanced.
Wild About Devon is a county-wide platform and network that supports community action for nature. It connects local groups with conservation organisations, experts, and resources to help tackle the Climate and Ecological Emergency. From wildlife surveys to habitat restoration, Wild About Devon inspires and enables communities to launch their own nature projects and make a real difference in their area.
Wild About Devon is coordinated by Devon Local Nature Partnership. The Community Grants are administered in collaboration with Devon Communities Together. Previous funding has come from Devon Environment Foundation, Devon Communities Together, and Devon County
Council.
