Hedges

Devon is famous for its hedges which line lanes and field boundaries for a total of 33,000 miles across the county – more than anywhere else in the UK. They form vital corridors for wildlife to move through the landscape and their steep banks provide refuges for woodland plant communities even in our most agricultural landscapes.

The Devon Hedge Group and Hedgelink are the go-to organisations for everything you need to know about hedges, including loads of excellent advice on managing, restoring and creating new hedges.

Teignbridge Wildlife Wardens have produced this great leaflet on Hedge planting.
